Become a Volunteer
I long to accomplish a great and noble task, but it is my chief duty to accomplish small tasks as if they were great and noble." -- Anne Frank
Shalom BC Volunteer Centre helps individuals find appropriate volunteer opportunities and assists non-profit organizations in finding interested volunteers.

Get Involved
By working within the Jewish community, you can meet newcomers and share your experiences with them to help them adjust to their new life. With so many impersonal companies and such an overwhelming number of people staying online, it's a breath of fresh air to speak to real people face to face and get some personal advice on Jewish life in Vancouver.
By working with us, volunteers can stay informed about many fantastic events happening in the Jewish community. Opportunities for cultural events come up regularly, so you can contribute your support and make a memorable occasion for others to enjoy. Or, if you’re looking to get involved on a more long-term basis, we can help you connect with an organization that you truly care about.
ShalomBC is a very dynamic place – people are coming and going, and there are always new questions and challenges to be answered. Our volunteers really believe that this opportunity has helped to fill a special place in their lives.
So whether you have a free hour a week or a day out of the year, we can find the right opportunity for you!

– Lily, working at ShalomBC.
“It helps me gain experience for college while having fun."
– Karon, working at the JCC daycare (Karen and Gary Simkin Family Child Development Centre) and ShalomBC.

– Binky, working at ShalomBC, Louis Brier Residence, the Jewish Museum and Archives of BC, and the Isaac Waldman Library.
“I enjoy helping newcomers and sharing my experiences. Vancouver can be such a big city when there's no one you know."

Volunteer Database
If you want to volunteer on specific events rather than on a regular basis, you can register in our Volunteer Database. We support organizations in the community when they are looking to host an event, so they can know what your interests are and contact you themselves.
